Sharing a medication plan with family, safely
Most apps offer two options: no sharing at all, or a shared login that hands over everything forever. Medifix adds the step in between — a caregiver sees the schedule and intake log, the data is end-to-end encrypted, and access can be withdrawn at any time.
The gap between a fridge note and a shared password
When someone starts helping a parent or partner manage medication, the practical options are usually poor. A printed plan on the fridge is immediately out of date. A phone call every evening does not scale. And sharing an account login means handing over everything — not just the medication list, but any other data the account touches, permanently, with no way to see what was accessed.
What is actually needed is narrower: one specific person should be able to see whether today's doses were taken, and nothing more, for as long as that arrangement makes sense.
How caregiver sharing works in Medifix
Medifix treats caregiver access as its own relationship rather than a second login. The person taking the medication invites a caregiver, and from then on the caregiver sees the schedule and the intake log on their own phone, in their own copy of the app.
The data is end-to-end encrypted, which means the encryption keys stay on the two devices involved. The sync mechanism moves an encrypted blob; it cannot read the contents. Mintlane cannot read them either. That is a meaningful difference from a service that stores a plaintext medication list on a server and simply promises not to look.
Access is revocable. If the arrangement ends — a hospital stay is over, or someone would rather manage it alone again — the connection is withdrawn from the app, and the caregiver stops receiving updates.
What a caregiver actually sees
The point of the feature is reassurance without surveillance. A caregiver sees what is scheduled and what has been confirmed, so a missed evening dose is visible without a phone call. They do not get a general window into the other person's phone, and they cannot silently change the plan.
For families spread across cities, or for adult children supporting a parent who is managing several prescriptions at once, that narrow slice of information is usually the whole requirement.
